Astura hosted a conference with the CIAN re securing growth transactions in African tech
Jean Jacques Lecat, Chair of CIAN's Legal & Tax Committee, moderated the conference and Olivier BAUD, Founder of Energy Pool, and Guy Willner, Managing Director of Helios Investment Partners, shared their insightful experience alongside our partners Raphaël Dalmas (M&A / Private Equity) and Matthieu Mélin (IP / IT / Data).
In 2025, African tech raised USD 4.1 billion. For companies and investors alike, identifying key issues to be secured is essential to keep up with this great trend!
The exchanges focused on four key issues:
🔹 Structuring: licensing, joint venture, M&A or venture capital depending on the objective pursued and local constraints.
🔹 Freedom to operate: checking upfront IP ownership and the rules applicable to data.
🔹 Governance: drafting with care a shareholders' agreement to balance powers between the parties without hindering the use of technology.
🔹 Exit: considering ownership of the technology developed upon occurrence of an exit.
We thank CIAN for its trust, and the speakers and participants for the quality of the discussions.
